What does the term Character mean with Fragrances?

 Every fragrance that you either wear or use as an air freshening fragrance has it's own unique character.

 

This quite honestly is the reason that you choose the fragrance. When you are attracted to a fragrance it is because that fragrance speaks of your own character.

 

For example with men's fragrances there are some that can be characterized as masculine while others may be masculine also but they are more gentlemanly.

 

I would place Burberry Sports in the masculine category but I would place Escape for men in the gentlemanly category.

 

Perfumers are quite skilled at creating fragrance to match or appeal to a certain character.

 

You can get the first indication of the fragrances character by looking at it's name. 

 

The perfumer knows the market that the fragrance is intended to reach and he or she will compose the medley so as to appeal to that market.
