More Fragrance Facts

Here are a few interesting facts about fragrance. Many times we will hear references made to the fragrances that we are so fond of and not know what they mean.

It is also good to know some background on the fragrances that you use just to be knowledgeable.

Fragrance is caused by the very molecules of the product being released into the air. Fragrances that have heavier molecules last longer than those which are lighter.

The French were instrumental in the development of perfumes and colognes. They began adding alcohol and solvents to the scented product base of many materials.

All scented products should be stored in a cool dry place away from heat and direct sunlight because heat and light will cause the composition of the product to change and eventually have a negative effect on the fragrance.

Cologne and perfume is made by adding either alcohol or some other solvent to the oil base. This causes the fragrance to evaporate rapidly and produce fragrance.

The down side to this is that the fragrance won't last as long as it does with the natural product.
